HECSHelp is currently in development. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our waitlist, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible.
1. Who we are
HECSHelp is operated by HECSHelp AU Pty Ltd as a private company in Australia ACN: 701 501 948. In this policy, "HECSHelp", "we", "us" and "our" refer to that business.
2. What we collect
- Information you give us. When you join the waitlist, we collect your email address and anything else you choose to enter in the form. If you email us, we keep your message and your contact details.
- Technical information. Our website host and form provider automatically record details such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the date and time.
We do not ask for your bank details, tax file number, HECS-HELP loan balance or any government identifiers through this website. The repayment calculator runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to us or stored.
3. How we use your information
- to add you to the waitlist and contact you about HECSHelp, including launch, early access and product updates
- to respond to your questions and requests
- to keep the website running, secure and working properly
- to meet our legal obligations
We only send you marketing emails if you have asked to hear from us, and every email will include a way to unsubscribe, as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We use a small number of service providers to run the website and waitlist, and they handle information on our behalf:
- Tally (tally.so) provides the waitlist form and stores form responses.
- Netlify hosts this website and keeps standard server logs.
- Google Fonts supplies the website's typefaces. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google, which can see your IP address.
- An email service we use to send you messages about HECSHelp.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
5. Overseas storage
Our service providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe. We choose established providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they handle your information appropriately.
6. Cookies and similar technology
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on this website. The embedded waitlist form and our hosting provider may use cookies or similar technology for technical purposes, and their own privacy policies apply to that. Our website also stores a small, non-identifying note in your browser's session storage so the welcome animation only plays once per visit. It is cleared when you close the tab.
7. Security and how long we keep your information
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No online system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep your waitlist details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until they are no longer needed for HECSHelp's launch and related communications. We then delete or de-identify them.
8. Your choices and rights
You can:
- unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails, or by contacting us
- ask to see the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct or delete it

9. Complaints
If you are concerned about how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
10. Children
HECSHelp is not intended for people under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as HECSHelp develops, particularly when the app launches and we collect more information. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. We will make any significant changes clear on our website and, where required, ask for your consent again.
